From
the Southern Seas
HUG-MAR is a company dedicated to the import and export of fish
and seafood, both fresh and frozen, as well as finished products.
The company is located in the city of Mar del Plata, province
of Buenos Aires, Argentine Republic. Being the most prosperous
fishing port in the country and one of the most important in South
America, Mar del Plata concentrates the catch brought by ships
from the southernmost seas in the world whose waters are completely
free of pollution.
High Technology for the Highest Quality
The activities of the company take place in the cold-storage plant
Glaciar S.A.I.C.I.F.I., a model plant of 1.600 square metres (approx.
17,223 sq. feet). It has all the facilities and elements necessary
for the optimum processing; the maximum standards of quality,
capacity of storage and generation of cold. The Plant is equipped
with tables for filleting, calibration and packing; sanitary filters
and a stainless-steel facing 1,50 metres high (approx. 4.92 feet).
Guarantee of Hygiene
The disposal of the processing waste is done automatically. The
process is performed through an underground pipeline. The waste
is drained by water pressure towards a rotative separator which,
by means of an auger, forces it into a container. This container
is removed every two hours.
All the plant facilities and
utensils are cleaned and treated with antiseptics after each
processing task.
Capacity and Control
The processing takes place in the plant where there are two tunnels
capable of freezing up to 15 tons daily; two plates for freezing
up to 26 tons of product daily and three refrigerating rooms for
keeping fresh fish. Out of the total workforce, 40 posts are assigned
to the filleting section, 20 to the packing section and 16 to
the calibration.
There is also a Quality Control laboratory equipped with the highest
technology, in charge of which are professionals with vast knowledge
of the subject.
International Standards
The company has equipment capable of generating a million
frigories per hour. All the steps of the processing are concentrated
in the plant, thus guaranteeing continuous
freezing and eliminating any pollution hazards. This makes it
possible to strictly fulfill both the H.A.C.C.P. international
standards, which ensure the absence of specific risks, and preventive
measures of control.
